| Project Evaluation |
| Before you start a project you
need to give thought to how you want to evaluate what you are doing and
what it is exactly that you would like to know. |
| Reasons for monitoring and evaluation: |
- progressmonitoring:
follow-up on planning: is actually being carried out what has been planned?
is the time-schedule being followed?
- processmonitoring and evaluation:
follow-up on how activities are being performed and how people experience
them
are people still motivated (also important for sustainability)?
is it necessary to make adjustments during the project?
- effectmonitoring and evaluation:
is (for instance) the dmft being
lowered as planned?
is there more knowledge?
|
Levels of monitoring and evaluation:
There are several aspects that
you can look at, like: |
- targetgroup
- staff
- coordination
|
| Perspective: |
I would like to mention
two points of view here:
participative
the project needs to be tailored
to the wishes of the participants;
the project can only be successfull if participants stay motivated and have
the feeling they can influence the process; this will enhance effectivity
conventional
not all parts of the project are
suitable for a participative approach;
sometimes it is necessary to choose a top-down method
|
|
The evaluation of community programs can by done with the help of the
logic framework (one of many methods). This is the method that is used
most frequently in the aid of developing countries and is an excellent way
to help you set out an outline for a project.
