| When I started with the Happy Smile Project in Lebanon, I found it very hard to get all the information and practical support together. I needed a template and as it was not there, I slowly started to gather pieces of information by taking classes and talking with different people in adjacent fields of expertise. At this moment I do not know if the situation has improved, but here is a list of what Happy Smile was all about: |
Creating an international service desk for people who are willing to set up oral health promotion projects
implying, among other points, the following:
- advice on how to set up a project proposal and plan ('building blocks' resulting in a framework)
- advice on where to find funding; intermediate to get funding by an accreditation system
- advice on how to carry the project out, including checklists for every step
- supply of samples for games, theatre plays, muppet shows
or stories with an oral health education element
- advice on dealing with sub-target-groups, like (pregnant) mothers and teachers
- support for dental schools who want to include this in the training for dentists
- intermediate to governments, e.g. to lower taxes on oral health care products framework for contracts
- website
- evaluation and sustainability
